Asti, in Piemonte, is roughly 1.100 kilometers from Dover. You can drive there in a day, but it takes quite some time and there better not be any delays at the MontBlanc- Frejus- or Gotthardtunnel. Coming through France traffic information in English (yes it seems incredible) is regularly provided on the autoroutes radio station. Coming through Germany you might want to book a hotel in South Germany or Switzerland. If you are looking for a nice hotel not too far from the highway please see the site www.linksundrechts.com (click on the English flag). Or stay a night on the Gotthardpass, in Andermatt or Hospenthal ( www.andermatt.ch or www.hotel-gotthard.ch ). You can enjoy the great views, a cheese fondue and a cool night. The next morning you can be the first over the pass (for the aficionado’s) or take the tunnel while it’s still quiet on the road.
With the many route planners available you can plan the route from home. For the destination you will need the following information: the postal code for Ponzano is 15020.
